I’m Jen and I started making candles as a fundraiser for my church’s 100th annual strawberry festival. I thought it would be a fun project and my daughters Chloe and Ivy got involved to help in the candling process and in manning our little table. Fast forward a few months - I started following ‘bookstagram’ accounts on Instagram because I wanted to find good book recommendations specifically on YA Fantasy books that both my daughters (and my son Luc now as he gets older) and I would want to read. I was absolutely drawn into all the fun bookish merchandise, particularly candles and decided to make a few for myself. I opened a little online shop and offered a handful of candles based on Sarah J Maas’s Throne of Glass series. The reaction was so positive that I gradually kept creating more candles as I read more books. Now this humble project has turned into something much more (special thanks to my husband Craig who helps keep everything at home on track when I get lots of orders!). I love the creativity and design work of making the labels, the science of working with blending fragrance oils, soy waxes and different wicks to get the perfect burn with the best scent throw. But what I love most are my customers. Nothing feels better than getting a glowing review on a sale, seeing someone post pictures with my candles in the shot or working closely with authors and book box curators to create custom candles for their launches and subscriptions.
